THE Carlton Football Club will start its 2020 AFLW campaign with back-to-back blockbusters against Richmond in its inaugural game and old enemy Collingwood at the home of women’s football, Ikon Park.

This comes on the back of the AFL today unveiling the 2020 AFLW fixture that will see Carlton compete in Conference B alongside Collingwood, Melbourne, Western Bulldogs, Fremantle and newcomers St Kilda and West Coast.

The fixture will see the Blues play six of their eight games in Melbourne, with four of those matches to be played at Ikon Park.

Carlton will grace the Friday night stage for the first time since Round 4 of the 2018 season and play two Saturday night games in the revamped eight-game season.

The AFLW Pride Game is back again for the third time in 2020, with the Blues heading to the Whitten Oval in Round 3 for a game that supports and celebrates the LBGTIQ community.

The Club’s first away trip of the season comes in Round 4 when Carlton heads to Richmond Oval for a Grand Final rematch against the Crows.

The Blues will head to Alice Springs for only the second time in the Club’s history to take on the Demons in Round 6.

Carlton takes on newcomers St Kilda and West Coast at Ikon Park in Rounds 5 and 7 respectively.

An exciting end to the season will see the Game Changers play at Marvel Stadium for the first time when they take on the Dockers in Round 8.

Carlton CEO Cain Liddle said the fixture gives Blues fans a great opportunity to see the Game Changers in action with six of the Club’s eight games in Melbourne.

“This season we are really excited to host four home games here at Ikon Park, kicking things off with two blockbusters against our traditional rivals in Richmond and Collingwood,” Liddle said.

“Ikon Park is where AFLW began and it is the home of women’s football, the buzz around the ground is electric.

“It will be great to see the Carlton faithful fill the stands in 2020 and cheer on our side as we look to build on a strong 2019 season.”
