Carlton's AFLW leadership group is set for 2026, headlined by captain Abbie McKay and vice-captain Mimi Hill who guided the Blues to their first finals series in five years.
McKay and Hill will again be supported by Tara Bohanna, whose maturity and experience have been invaluable to a young Blues forward line, and Harriet Cordner, with Erone Fitzpatrick a welcome addition to the group.
McKay, the league's first father-daughter pair to captain the same club, will remain as sole captain for the second consecutive year after leading the group to their first finals series in five years. McKay continues to be an instrumental player for Carlton, collecting 14 or more disposals and laying multiple tackles in every game she played in 2025.
Hill will remain as vice-captain, a position she has held since 2023, continuing to drive standards and lead by example. Missing only four games across the past four seasons, her explosive speed, clean ball use and fierce determination make her a vital player for the Blues.
Cordner was a cornerstone of the Blues' side in 2025, producing career-best form as she led the backline with poise and composure. Her stellar season earned her a first All-Australian blazer and a runner-up finish at Carlton's Best and Fairest.
Bohanna's maturity and presence have been a steadying influence on Carlton's forward line, bringing experience and calm to a group with plenty of upside.
Fitzpatrick joins the leadership group for the first time after a standout comeback season, earning a Best and Fairest podium finish and an All-Australian squad nomination.
Belinda Clarke, the former Australian cricket captain, will continue to help empower Carlton's leaders to lead with intention, maintain trust and drive success.
“The leadership group we have this year will help continue the welcoming environment we’ve built, one where everyone feels comfortable to be themselves both on and off the field, while also setting the standards for what it means to be driven, professional and team first every day,” Carlton AFLW Senior Coach Mathew Buck said.
"Abbie and Mimi truly embody what we stand for as a program and were outstanding role models in 2025.
"To have Tara and Harriet alongside them brings a wealth of experience and respect that is invaluable to our group.
"Erone is the ultimate professional. She has shown this side what it means to be a true team player in the face of adversity, and we're thrilled to welcome her into the leadership group.
"These five leading the way puts us in great shape and we can't wait to see what this team produces in 2026."
