EMERGING Carlton half-back Billy Wilson has signed a two-year contract extension, keeping him at IKON Park until at least the end of 2028.
Wilson has been rewarded for his hard work where he has taken his development to the next level. Playing 12 AFL games so far in his career (including the last eight of this season), Wilson has registered 22 or more disposals on four occasions, achieving a level of consistency that has seen him excel off half-back.
Recruited to the Blues with pick No.34 in the 2023 AFL Draft, Wilson spent his first two seasons developing through the Carlton Reserves before making his AFL debut last year in Round 16 against Port Adelaide.
Swapping guernsey No.35 for No.15 this year, the 21-year-old had a breakout game in the Round 13 King's Birthday Eve clash against Essendon, where he racked up 24 disposals, impressing with his dash off half-back and clean foot skills.
Wilson joins fellow youngsters Jagga Smith and Cooper Lord in re-committing with the Blues, a great sign for the future of the Club.
GM of Football Chris Davies said Wilson's re-signing reflected both his form and his appetite to keep improving.
"Billy's been one of the real positives of our season so far. His composure under pressure and his read of the game from half-back have been impressive: we are excited to have him at the Blues for at least two more years,” Davies said.
"He's dedicated to his craft and genuinely wants to improve every week, taking every chance he gets at AFL level to learn and develop. He's the kind of emerging talent we want at this Club, and we're excited about what's ahead for him in the Navy Blue."
