The AFLW season opener squad is in.
Carlton has named its extended squad of 24 ahead of Sunday's Round 1 clash with St Kilda at Marvel Stadium.
As announced on Thursday morning, three new recruits will represent Carlton for the first time this Sunday, Brooke Boileau, Nell Morris-Dalton and Claudia Whitfort.
Recruited from Adelaide at the end of last season, former Rising Star nominee Boileau will officially become Carlton's 100th AFLW debutant.
Morris-Dalton’s rapidly evolving Carlton journey will see her play for her third club, just a week after being confirmed as a new Blue.
Former Gold Coast best and fairest winner Whitfort has over 50 games of AFLW experience and will provide a point of difference to the Blues’ midfield.
Keeley Sherar (quad) and Sophie McKay (calf) will be unavailable for the game after the pair sustained low-grade injuries this week. Both players will aim to be available for selection ahead of the Blues' first home game against Adelaide in Round 2.
Recruit Lauren Bella will also be on the sidelines after sustaining a high-grade calf strain, as confirmed by the Club on Tuesday.
Carlton's top five in the Club's AFLW Best and Fairest award last season, Dayna Finn, Harriet Cordner, Erone Fitzpatrick, Poppy Scholz and Maddy Hendrie, all feature in the extended squad.
The Blues will name their final side on Friday at 5pm.
Sunday's Spud's Game double header kicks off with the AFLW at 4.35pm, followed by the AFL clash from 7.20pm.
