CARLTON defender Liam Jones has been recognised for his tireless defensive efforts against Richmond.

The stoic defender has once again featured in the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year award votes after what was a resilient performance.

Jones was the only Blue to collect votes for his performance in the 28-point defeat to the Tigers, with his three votes coming in behind Nick Vlastuin (four votes), Shane Edwards (six votes), Jack Graham (eight votes) and Dion Prestia (nine votes).

The experienced defender finished among Carlton’s best, with a heroic performance in the back line seeing him finish with six rebound 50s, seven intercepts and 13 spoils.

The performance caps of what has been an impressive year for Jones, who is set to miss the remainder of the season with a larynx fracture.
