IT’S shaping up to be a big few weeks for list management teams across the country: that’s no exception at Ikon Park.

With the trade period coming next week and the NAB AFL Draft in November, player movement is well and truly at the top of the agenda.

And according to Carlton List Manager Michael Agresta, the Blues are keeping all options open — whether it’s in a trade or draft aspect.

Speaking from the NAB AFL Draft Combine, Agresta spoke of what’s to come from a Navy Blue standpoint this off-season.

“We’re really well-prepared,” Agresta said.

“This week has been about getting a great understanding of what young talent is coming through and how they compare to possible trade targets.

“We do a lot of preparation around scenario-building. [The question is] what’s the type of talent we can bring in there — that’s both if they’re established or if they’re young talent.”

Over the last three days, the NAB AFL Draft Combine has taken over Melbourne Park as recruiters run their eyes over potential draftees.

Included in those potential recruits are two familiar names: Thomson Dow (brother of Paddy) and Sam De Koning (brother of Tom), who could be on AFL lists next year.

Agresta - who identified the depth and versatility as the draft’s biggest strengths - shed some light on what the last three days have entailed.

“A lot of the boys have tested: we’ve had 35 interviews over the past couple of days,” he said.

“Our recruiting team has done a mountain of work of preparation, psych profiling and data around the players.”

With the least amount of list changes the Club has undertaken in the last four years, Agresta said it was a signal of faith in the current group.

“We’re really buoyant of the list at the moment,” he said.

“We’re really confident that this is the group that will take us forward.”
