On behalf of all Directors, staff, coaches and players, the Club would like to acknowledge the passing of Carlton Football Club Life Member, Sam Smorgon AO.

A Life Member since 1994, Sam was also the Club’s No 1 male ticketholder, a role he took on in 1997, where he succeeded former Prime Minister Malcolm Fraser.

Sam was also one of the first-ever original members of the inaugural Carltonians, a supporter group which used to be reserved for a maximum of 25 members.

He will be remembered for his significant contribution to the Carlton Football Club, and the Club conveys its deepest condolences to Sam’s wife Minnie and all members of the Smorgon family on the profound loss of a man who contributed immensely to the Blues and the wider community in general.
