Northern will kick the year off at Preston City Oval against Essendon in Round 1, two days after the Thursday night AFL blockbuster between the Blues and Bombers.

Also included in Northern’s four Preston City Oval games are clashes with Collingwood (Round 7) and Richmond (Round 19).

From an Ikon Park standpoint, the Blues will open proceedings against North Melbourne on Anzac Day. There will also be three straight games on Royal Parade from Rounds 13-15.

Northern will head to eight venues in 2020, with Marvel Stadium playing host to two games against Box Hill (Round 3) and Footscray (Round 9). Both will be curtain raisers to Carlton’s away games against Hawthorn and the Western Bulldogs respectively.

Northern will also play under Friday night lights in Round 2 when it heads to Avalon Airport Oval to take on Werribee.

After three in the opening nine rounds last season, the Club’s request to have their byes spread out over the course of the year was pleasingly heeded by AFL Victoria.
