Carlton AFLW midfielder Chloe Dalton will aim to win her second gold medal at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, with the exciting news that she will rejoin the Australian Women’s Rugby Sevens team in April.

Dalton, 26, originally crossed over from Rugby Sevens to Australian Rules in 2018, when she signed on as a rookie for the Club.

In her inaugural year on Carlton’s AFLW list, Dalton played all nine games and kicked five goals.

She is currently balancing training for both sports, but will transition to the Rugby Sevens side in Sydney following the conclusion of Carlton’s 2020 AFLW campaign.

Dalton thanked the Club for its support throughout her time in the Navy Blue.

“The opportunity to go to a second Olympics was a pretty big deal and I’d love to go back and win another gold (medal) with the girls,” Dalton said.

“Carlton has been amazing about it. They just said it’s such a good opportunity, you’ve got to grab it with both hands and run with it.

“The girls have all been really supportive as well, which has been awesome.”

GM of Women’s Football Ash Brown said he was thrilled for Dalton.

“On behalf of the Club, I’d like to congratulate Chloe on this exciting opportunity,” Brown said.

“Chloe has been a huge part of our program since arriving at the Club in 2018 and it has been a joy to watch her progression.

“Thankfully, she gets to fulfil her role at the Club during our 2020 campaign before heading off to Sydney to join the Australian Women’s Rugby Sevens side.

“We wish Chloe all the best in her quest for another Olympic gold medal and have no doubt she will make us proud.”
