ON THE back of his best pre-season to date, Liam Jones said he’s thankful for his health at a time like this.

Speaking to WIN News Tasmania, Jones is isolated at home in Melbourne as the world comes to a standstill due to COVID-19.

Having enjoyed his best summer, the key defender said he was feeling “well-conditioned and really strong”.

“I feel fine, which is probably the most disappointing thing [about not playing],” he said.

“Now that it’s been taken away from us, you sit back and thing ‘gee, how lucky were we’.

“During this time, you’ve got to be thankful that yourself and your family is healthy.”

Alongside his training, Jones has been keeping busy, making the most of his passion for music (“I’ve obviously got a bit more time on my hands”).

Naturally, the question came about his roots, and whether he sees a return to Tassie footy in his future.

“I’m not sure if I can move back to Tassie at the moment: I really love Melbourne,” he said.

“I definitely would love to go back and play some games with North Hobart: it’d be great to win a flag with them.

“That’d be awesome.”
