THERE’S nothing like a meaningful conversation over a game of FIFA.

That was the case for Sam Walsh on Friday, who was part of Carlton’s launch of its Twitch channel alongside CripsyAU.

Answering questions from fans and the host himself, Walsh was quizzed about what he had learnt most about his time in isolation.

The self-proclaimed ‘footyhead’ said the love of the game was something that hadn’t been stronger — along with some rare time with his family.

“Spending time with my family… you don’t get to do that a whole lot over this period of time,” Walsh said.

“Another thing is how much of an impact sport has on you and how fun it can be to be around the footy club.”

It’s clear that the 2019 NAB AFL Rising Star has taken to his new surrounds very quickly, immediately becoming a fan favourite for one of the great debut seasons.

He said the chance to connect with supporters once again was something the playing group was undeniably looking forward to.

“Even for supporters, it’s just fun to be around that environment,” he said.

“When that is taken away from you, you realise how lucky we are to be a part of such a good club. That’s been the biggest thing for me, really.”
