The game in focus:

After what seems like an eternity since Round 1, Carlton will be back out on the field to take on Melbourne this Saturday afternoon at Marvel Stadium.

Having had ample time to learn from the disappointment of the Round 1 loss to the reigning premier, Carlton will head into the game looking to register its first win of the 2020 season.

They will have a task ahead of them, however, with Melbourne fuelled by similar motivation heading into the game.

With such a long time between games, both teams will be raring to go from the opening bounce.

Last time we met:

The Blues almost stole a memorable come-from-behind victory when these two teams last met in Round 16 last year.

After a shaky start from both teams, Melbourne had all the control as it headed into the final term with a 30-point lead.

However, Carlton would show great spirit and fight to wrestle back the lead late in the game before Melbourne stole the victory with only seconds remaining in the game.

It was strong outing for young Blue Will Setterfield, whose three goals – including two in the final quarter - provided a much needed spark.

Veteran Marc Murphy lead the way in the absence of Patrick Cripps to collect 24 disposals and eight clearances.

Blue focus:

All eyes will be on how the players’ return to the field after the time away from their respective clubs.

The work done away from the club, as well as the focus on match simulation in recent weeks, will be the difference when these two teams run out for the first time in over two months.

Pay close attention to the dynamic between Carlton’s forward line, with the addition of Harry McKay and Eddie Betts sure to cause problems for Melbourne’s defenders.

Get excited about:

If you’re not excited about being able to watch the Blues run out on Saturday afternoon, then SURELY the return of Eddie Betts will get you over the line.
