Jarrad will join his late father, Vin, as a 100 game player for the Carlton Football Club. Vin played his 100th game in round 18, 1972 against Melbourne (the same team he had made his AFL debut against in round 5, 1966) at the MCG. At 23 years and 160 days of age he was, at the time, the fourth youngest player to play 100 games for Carlton. He is now the eighth youngest behind Lance Whitnall (21 – 275) and Robert Walls (21 – 338). At 25 years and 166 days old Jarrad will become the 46th youngest player to play 100 games for Carlton
Vin, who passed away suddenly in 2003, played 153 games for Carlton and was a member of Carlton’s 1970 and 1972 premiership sides.
Jarrad was recruited to Carlton via a Father/Son selection with Carlton’s third round selection, number 46 overall, in the 2001 National Draft. He was a member of Carlton’s 2007 pre-season premiership side and was third in last year’s John Nicholls Medal (Carlton Best & Fairest Award). He represented Australia in the International Rules Series in 2005 and was a member of the winning Victorian team against the All Stars in the Hall of Fame game in May this year.
Jarrad has missed a total of 26 matches since he made his debut in round one, 2003 and it has taken him five years and 113 days to reach the triple figures. Vin missed a total of 43 matches before he reached the 100 game milestone, taking six years and 76 days.
Jarrad has played in 26 victories and two draws in his first 99 games for a winning ratio of 27.27% and he has kicked 104 goals. Vin played in 69 victories and one draw in his first 100 games for a winning ratio of 69.5%, kicking 20 goals, including two with his first two kicks in AFL.
