“BRING it on.”

Carlton veteran Ed Curnow believes his side is well-prepared for the fixture bonanza awaiting the Blues in the second half of 2020.

With the AFL releasing its next block of games with 20 straight days of football from Wednesday night, the midfielder trusts the Blues are up to the challenge.

Speaking to SEN on Tuesday night, Curnow was eager to get the newly announced games underway: the Hawks first, followed by the Eagles and the Dockers.

“I can only speak for our club, but we’re prepared for these five-day breaks and the players have mentally got our heads around what’s to come,” Curnow said.

“I think our Club is well-prepared and the players are looking forward to that challenge, so bring it on.”

But Carlton will have to get past the weekend’s clash with North Melbourne before they depart for Western Australia for the next phase of the season like no other.

Curnow was cautious not to underestimate the 17th-placed North, who the Blues haven’t beaten since 2014.

“The Kangaroos play a very strong brand of contested footy and they’re a very physical side: they’ve had the wood over us in the last years,” he said.

“I’m expecting a proud Kangaroos are going to bring the fight to us and we’re going to have to be well-prepared.”

Despite last weekend’s loss to the top-of-the-table Power, Curnow is pleased to see belief in the Blues’ dynamic game style growing among the young contingent.

Scoring over 100 points in their last win over the Western Bulldogs in Round 6, an exciting style with high-scoring potential is something the group continues to aspire to.

“The guys are gaining confidence in how we’re moving the ball, it’s certainly a style that’s exciting for the group,” he said.

“We can’t get away from the fact that that style comes from contested ball and being able to put pressure on the opposition.

“It’s more around the belief and getting the players to play the way we want to play, but then also start to believe that that’s the style that’s going to win us games.”
