BLUEBAGGERS will have two Walkers to look out for in Navy Blue in 2021.

Carlton has strengthened its backline with the acquisition of Daisy Walker, the defensive utility selected with pick No.28 in the 2020 NAB AFL Women’s Draft.

The Sandringham Dragon joins the Blues as a standout talent after just three seasons playing football, since starting her sporting journey as a basketballer.

Walker demonstrated a marked improvement between her 2019 and 2020 NAB League seasons: she progressed from averaging nine disposals a game to 16 in her three appearances this year.

The performance that got the attention of selectors came in Round 3 against the Gippsland Power as Walker dominated with 22 disposals, three marks, two tackles and four inside 50s.

With natural athletic ability, elite endurance and speed, Walker is set to add vital run off half back as the Blues gear up for their fifth AFLW campaign.

“Daisy is a brilliant athlete and we can’t wait to see what she can produce after a pre-season in our program,” said GM of Women’s Football Ash Brown.

“With the speed at which she’s improved through the underage system she’s proved herself to be a top prospect with tremendous upside.

“Daisy made a great impression and we believe she has what it takes to push herself and succeed at the highest level.”

“Daisy has caught the eye of our List Manager Brett Munro for good reason. Brett has been tracking the development pathways closely which he helped us land a promising player in Daisy.”
