“TO be able to reflect back as a childhood Carlton supporter and look at all the names and it’s like, now I’m part of that history. It’s something I’m very proud of.”
Sunday’s clash with Melbourne saw a lifelong Bluebagger hit 150 games, and it was one of his standout moments on the football field.
Running out with his three kids for the milestone (Arlo and Goldie in either arm, Lonnie perched on his shoulders), the smile on Levi Casboult’s face when he walked out from the MCG race said it all.
Navy Blue through and through, feeling a part of the fabric of Carlton’s history alongside his family is not something Casboult will forget anytime soon.
“I reckon that’s probably going to have to top it, apart from things that have happened on the field,” Casboult said when reflecting on the favourite moments in his decade-long career.
“To be able to walk out with my kids… I had to carry them all because it’s an odd number, I couldn’t carry two and one walk, he wouldn’t walk on his own so I had to work out a way to carry them all.
“But some of the photos coming out of that, it’s something that I’m going to cherish forever and hopefully one day it’s something my kids can be like ‘I got to do that with Dad’.”

The journey has been far from straightforward for the Blues forward, who’s dealt with more than his fair share in his 11 years on the list.
“I guess it was just appreciating the journey, appreciating the opportunity I’ve had,” he said.
“Not a lot of people get to play AFL footy and there were stages where I thought I’d never get to play one, let alone 150. I’ve got a lot of gratitude for the position that I’m in and the people around you that help get you there as well.
“You’d be silly to think it’s just you that gets you to a position because there’s an army of people who work at the Club, your friends and family that support you through hard times and the good times.”
One of Casboult’s key supporters was able to join him on Sunday afternoon, with his wife Hayley beaming with pride ahead of the Round 9 clash.
“She sees the work that goes into getting to each game and getting to 150 games and just proud of the work I’ve put in and the persistence I’ve shown,” he said.
“She’s a chef, she’s a psychologist, she’s a jack of all trades for me and it’s someone I can rely on for a lot.
“I definitely wouldn’t be where I am without the help that she’s given me.”

He also reserved a special mention for David Teague and assistant coach Cameron Bruce, with Casboult’s career-best 2019 and early 2020 form coinciding with Teague’s start as interim - and eventually Senior - coach.
“The support I’ve had from the coaches, the support that Teaguey shows me, Brucey as my line couch.
“Even this year when I probably haven’t played to my best, their support and the work they put in for me week-in week-out trying to help me get back to my best.”
