CARLTON co-captain Patrick Cripps and veteran Marc Murphy will undergo fitness tests ahead of this weekend’s clash with North Melbourne.

Cripps joined Murphy on the sidelines prior to the win over Collingwood on Sunday, with the skipper taken out of the team due to soreness 48 hours before the game.

Director of High Performance Andrew Russell said it was likely that Cripps would be right to go for the Round 19 fixture at Marvel Stadium.

“Patrick had a couple of areas that were sore last week, they’ve settled down pretty well,” Russell said.

“He’ll train on Thursday and he’s a test to play: we think he’s a pretty good chance to play this week.”

Murphy has been out of action since being subbed out of the game in the opening term against Adelaide four weeks.

With his calf injury now well and truly on the mend, Russell said that Murphy would be put through his paces during Thursday’s main training session.

“‘Murph’ had a really good week last week. The calf has settled down and we’ve been happy with his training,” he said.

“He’ll train on Thursday and we’ll give him a really good, thorough test and then we’ll decide what level we think is appropriate for him to come back and reintroduce game play this week.”
