CARLTON AFLW captain Kerryn Peterson has re-signed with the Club for a further two seasons.

Peterson, née Harrington, has been a popular leader of the Game Changers and is always challenging and inspiring her teammates to live to the Club values on and off the field.

The defender is a three-time All-Australian and was runner-up in Carlton's AFLW Best and Fairest for season six after a stellar campaign. She is also set to reach the 50-game milestone in the upcoming season.

The 30-year-old had a career-high 23 disposals at 100 per cent efficiency in the Round 2 match against Geelong in early 2022.

Co-captain of the side since 2019, Peterson stepped up as sole captain in 2022 and drove team values and high standards across the program. Her leadership was also further cemented as a newly elected Board member of the AFL Players’ Association.

Her team-first approach saw her voted by her teammates as the Most Valuable Bluebagger at the most recent Best and Fairest awards for her significant contributions both on and off the field and living Club values consistently throughout the season.

Peterson says she is ready to pick up where she left off as the league heads into season seven.

“We had a strong finish to the season earlier this year which puts us in a really good position heading into a new season with a shorter turnaround than usual,” she said.

“The Club has invested heavily in the women’s program with the majority of the current redevelopment focused around creating better facilities for us to work in, and that will only enhance our performances on-field.

“We are ready to head straight into pre-season and establish a strong team culture from day one, including driving high standards and giving it our all to take into the season ahead.

“I love this Club and I’m thrilled to be able to spend another two seasons here.”

Carton General Manager of Women’s Football Brett Munro is pleased that a leader of Peterson’s calibre has chosen to recommit to the Club.

“Kerryn embodies everything we are looking for in a player and leader of our Club and it is fantastic to be able to sign her for a further two seasons,” Munro said.

“To have her remain committed to our program after receiving interest from expansion and existing clubs is a huge show of faith to our Club and what we are building here.

“Kerryn’s form last season was outstanding and we look forward to seeing what she can achieve with the Game Changers over the next two seasons.”
