CARLTON fans will be seeing double next season, with Celine Moody joining her twin sister Brea Moody in the Navy Blue.

Moody will come to the Club through a three-way trade with the Western Bulldogs and North Melbourne. The trade will see Carlton gain Moody, with the Dogs receiving Mua Laloifi and North receiving pick No.25.

Arriving from the Western Bulldogs, Moody has a high level of experience in the AFLW, playing 42 games, including one finals match.

Standing at 186 centimetres, Moody predominantly plays as a ruck and will complement her twin sister as well as Jess Good.

Strong in the air, Moody also has the tools to make an impact up forward (she kicked five goals in season seven for the Dogs), while her positional versatility makes her a headache for the opposition.

It’s a homecoming for Moody on a number of fronts, returning to football in 2018 with Carlton’s inaugural VFLW side: she was drafted to the Bulldogs at the end of that season.

This is the second set of siblings to join the Blues for their 2024 campaign after Elijah Hollands joined his brother Ollie Hollands earlier this year.

The trade will see the departure of defender Laloifi. Joining the Blues in 2019, Laloifi first ran out in the Navy Blue in Round 1 against Richmond in 2020. She played 45 games in the backline in her five seasons at the Blues.

Head of AFLW Ash Naulty said the acquisition of Moody was a significant one for the Club.

“Celine is such a talented ruck and forward. We’re sure she’ll fit in seamlessly at IKON Park, joining Brea - who was recently crowned our 2023 Best and Fairest - as well as Jess Good.

“She comes to the Club with a lot of experience playing at the AFLW level. Having her out on the field, with the knowledge and football IQ she brings, will only bolster the development of our young and emerging list.

“After an interrupted season, Celine is raring to get back out on the field and we are excited to see what she can produce here at Carlton.

“It will be special for the Moodys to be able to watch Brea and Celine run out and play football together.

“The Club also wants to recognise and thank Mua for her contribution to the program. She has made a positive and lasting impact on the AFLW program here at the Blues.

“She is well-respected by her peers, whether that be the players or the coaches, and upholds herself with maturity.

“These decisions are never easy to make but we wish Mua nothing but the best in her future at the Western Bulldogs.”
