12:42pm.
When Carlton runs out in Sir Doug Nicholls Round to host GWS this weekend, there’ll be a big four points on the line.
But there’ll also be the chance to honour a late Legend for the first time in front of a home crowd.
Following the passing of the iconic Robert Walls late last week, the Blues’ Round 11 clash with the Giants will present the Club the opportunity to pay their respects in kind to the triple premiership player and 1987 premiership coach.
With a moment’s silence observed prior to the SCG clash with Sydney, Carlton is encouraging everyone in attendance to come together at a specific time to honour - and celebrate - the late, great Walls with a one-minute round of applause.
That time? 12:42pm.
Why 12:42pm?
There wasn’t much more that Walls could’ve achieved in his playing career with the Blues, which spanned across 12 seasons - from 1967-1978 - where he played all of his 218 games in the No.42 guernsey.
Incidentally, that No.42 guernsey is now worn by Adam Saad, who - like Walls - grew up in Coburg and Brunswick.
With this weekend’s game kicking off from 12:35pm (the Blues’ earliest start time for a game since 2000) the pieces have been put together to honour one of Carlton’s - and the wider game’s - all-time greats.
We’ll see you at the footy.
